Ben has the clumsy gene.

As if my falling and damaging my own appendages, Benjamin has to upstage me by breaking his arm yesterday. Mom took Ben and his friend JJ to a birthday party in Easley yesterday and that seemed like a grand idea. The afternoon was going along just fine and then Ben decided that he wanted to try some tricks on the swing.

Apparently there is this rumor that Ben heard. If you swing high enough you can eventually slide out of the swing and land on your feet. Let me tell you here and now, that is a lie. There was no landing on feet. There WAS landing on the arms in a grand *splat* motion from what I hear. He didn't cry. (I did when I landed last week!) Mom said he did look as if he wanted to puke, so she figured it was worth a call to me and a trip to the ER. Ben also inherited my amazing ability to withstand great amounts of pain without letting anyone else know.

Let me just say... the Easley Baptist Hospital is pure awesomeness. We were in their ER twice in one week and each time we were in and out of there in 2 hours. Simply awesome! That was even with Ben getting x-rays and a splint cast put on. They're just awesome, that's all I can say. I highly recommend them should you need ER assistance, though I will pray that you don't need any in the near or distant future.

We have to follow up with an orthopedic this week for the heavy duty cast, but he should come out of this just fine. He only fractured the bone in his right arm on the inside near the wrist. The hardest part for him will be writing since he is right-handed. I plan on canceling my appointment with the orthopedic tomorrow so that I can get him seen instead. My boo boos can wait a while. I stopped growing at 10. Ben seems to be still going strong, so I think his bone needs are just a little more important than mine at the moment.

I will update with more pictures after the casting session. :) Here are some pictures from our ER visit for Ben.

Ben before the doctor came in to see us.

Hugs from dad are like kryptonite!

Pretending to be scared of the splint cast.

Splint done, pain meds on the way!
