Dog-sitting

Brian has a very good friend, who is also a local Christian radio DJ. Brian and Peter get together fairly often for coffee. Occasionally, we even get to dog-sit for Peter. Jake is just the cutest little dog ever. See, don't you agree?

I have to admit that I am not really a dog person. Dogs are cute and I am sure they are quite fun. I just prefer cats. (Except for the shedding.)

I was a little leary of the idea of dog-sitting the first time that Peter suggested that I consider keeping Jake for the weekend, but I knew that the kids would enjoy it. I was actually more worried about the cats hurting Jake than I was about Jake bothering the cats. Honey, being the pure evil that she is, stayed far away from the strange little black creature. Marvin took to Jake like a bear to honey. (He does the same with Honey, too, whether she likes it or not.) Honey stayed on the top bunk of the boys' bed and Marvin just followed Jake around all weekend.

This weekend is the third time that we have kept Jake at the house, and the second time that have kept Jake without Peter ever actually leaving town. Honey now will walk past Jake in the house, but not without giving him that "I will kill you" look before going on. Marvin is just permanantly attached to Jake though. They both sleep on our bed with us. They both sleep next to each other on the sofa. Marvin follows Jake into the kitchen when he eats. Marvin waits at the door when Jake gets taken outside. Honey just sits quietly in the window, waiting patiently for a sign that her evilness is needed in the world.
