Last Wednesday I found out that my artwork was chosen to be in this year's Art in the Park downtown. That led to a mad dash to find appropriate framing and get it done so that I could have it back to the college by 10pm last Thursday. Yikes, are good frames ever expensive! It was almost $50 just for the frame and mat. I honestly had no idea. But now I have one exhibition to claim in the future. Learning experience well done.
I never promote myself in anything that I end up doing well, and I really am trying to be less modest about the things that I love. There are family members, like my brother and my dad, that I never even called to tell the good news. It had nothing to do with not liking the person or anything. I just hate calling people, especially to tell them something good regarding me. I don't know why. I just don't. I'm am darn proud of myself and what I have accomplished this past year. I just don't like others to know that I am, and I hate showing off. I really am trying to get over that, hence this blog.
My oldest ditched me for grandma's house, so only the 2 youngest made the excursion downtown with me on Saturday to see my "masterpiece." As you can see, Benjamin wasn't thrilled with the heat and, I swear to god, Dillon is happy just about anywhere.

Here's a better close-up of the art.

It was hard to get a good shot because there were so many people in such a small space. Plus, the kids were bored. It's okay though. Next month I am entering it into the student show at the college possibly along with the pieces that go along with it.
That was the highlight of the week. The rest doesn't matter much. I survived it and came through with only minor problems so it's all good. Yeah, right now it's all good.
