Today was Mom's very last treatment day. It has been a long year and a half. Very long. And I am so very proud of her. She is my inspiration and my hero. I left work early to go with her to this last treatment so that I could take some pictures to commemorate the glorious event. Plus, it has almost been a whole year since I have been with her to one of them. I love spending time with Mom, especially now.
Here is a condensed timeline of her journey:
10/23/07 - Cancer diagnosis
11/06/07 - Conference meeting with all doctors. Stage 3 breast cancer, Her2 positive. Treatment plan mapped out.
11/29/07 - 1st Chemo treatment. Will continue every other week for 4 months.
03/27/08 - Lumpectomy and removal of one lymph node.
April 2008 - 3 weeks of Mon-Fri radiation treatments. Herceptin treatments begin and will continue for one year, every 3 weeks.
03/27/09 - Last herceptin treatment.
Here are some pictures of Mom's special day:
This is Mom and her oncologist, Dr. Fanning. She is a wonderful doctor and has been a tremendous blessing during all of this.

This is Mom's favorite nurse at the Cancer Center. His name is Jason. He is such a sweetheart!

And this is Mom ringing the bell! Everyone who has completed a treatment at the Cancer Center gets to ring this bell. All of the staff and patients stop what they are doing to clap and celebrate with the person ringing the bell. It's a wonderful thing to see.

I am just so proud of her. So very proud.
GO MOM! :)
